Physical Modeling of Coastal Structures

About This Project

Understanding the environmental impacts on coastal communities under storm events will help management and response to disasters. The extreme forcing conditions that are able to be maintained in SUSTAIN will enable controlled research into these processes. Research performed at SUSTAIN so far focused on impacts of wind and waves on coastal buildings, protective barriers, and coral reefs.

Ongoing and past projects:
  • SEAHIVE–Sustainable Estuarine & Marine Revetment
  • Identifying, prioritizing, and validating green infrastructure approaches to enhance coastal resilience
